Fundraising methods at Doncaster Mind

We couldn’t do what we do for people affected by mental ill-health without our supporters. We rely upon voluntary donations for 98% of our income and are extremely grateful to everyone who supports us.

It’s really important we are open and transparent in everything we do which is why we are open about how we raise and spend our money. And with the number of people experiencing mental ill-health, we need to increase our fundraising in order to support everyone in Doncaster who needs our Services.

Recent media coverage and what we’re doing in response

The recent media attention on charity fundraising practices has highlighted a need for change in the sector.

We believe all charities should adhere to the highest possible fundraising standards. We are a member of the Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising and we strongly adhere to their codes of practice.

No one should be pressured into donating and we do not want to contact people if we know they don’t want us to. We take the requests of our supporters very seriously. All supporters can choose to unsubscribe from communications at any time, and we never swap or sell their data.

For that reason we strongly welcome both a complete review of the current regulations in place and more robust guidance to help us protect the most vulnerable people in society.

We are supporting all bodies involved in driving up standards and are committed to implementing any recommendations including:

  • The establishment of a new and independent regulator.
  • A strengthened Code of Fundraising Practice.
  • The protection and safeguarding of those who might be vulnerable from undue pressure.
  • We promise to continue to put our supporters foremost and remain open and honest with you.
