Walk with us! Move for your Mind Walking sessions

Move for your Mind!

May is National Walking Month. Whether you've never been walking before, it's a long lost passion or you've always wanted to try, we want to help you to take your first step into getting walking.

There are so many benefits to walking. It can reduce anxiety, improve your quality of sleep and help to improve your overall mood. Move for your Mind might be someone's starting point into fitness, socialising, or helping to boost self-esteem and confidence.

If you’re looking to meet up with others whilst improving your mental health, then join us for a walk and talk whilst being surrounded by like-minded people.

All walks will be 2 to 3 miles long and run between 10am and 12pm. We’ve even route planned to account for bus route access (as best we can) and that all important pit stop at the end for a cup of tea!

You must be over 18 and live in the Doncaster area to benefit from these FREE activities.

If you think this would benefit you, refer www.doncastermind.org.uk/refer email wellbeing@doncastermind.org.uk or call 01302 812190.

1Our first walk and talk is at Sandall Beat Wood on Wednesday the 8th of May.

Meeting at the Sportsman off Leger way at 10am, we'll have a stroll through the woods. All walks will be 2 to 3 miles long and run between 10am and 12pm.

Our second walk and talk is at Sprotbrough Flash on Wednesday the 15th of May.

Meeting at the Boat Inn at 10am, we'll have a wander down the River Don on beautifully smooth paths towards the beautiful Conisborough Viaduct.

On the way back there's the option to break off onto some rougher terrain to walk past the Flash.

Opportunities for bird watching are available on this route so if that's your thing, bring your binoculars.

At the end, we'll take a sit down and a natter at The Boat Inn.

Our third walk and talk is at the River Torne in Auckley on Wednesday the 22nd of May.

Meeting at the Eagle and Child at 10am, we'll have a walk around the village and down the river.

Taking in 2 - 3 miles with a stop for a good natter at the end in The Eagle and Child.

Wear some sturdy footwear (closed shoes), bring a drink and some snacks and a rainproof jacket.

If you're feeling optimistic - pack some suncream!

Our fourth and final walk will be at the Stainforth and Keady Canal in Thorne.

Meeting at 10am at The Canal Tavern for a linear ramble and natter down the canal path, enjoying the environment and peace before heading back to the tavern for a cuppa and a natter with like minded folk.

We've been really fortunate to be joined by some community group walk leaders on our Move for your Mind walks and they'll be able to tell you all about the groups they run and support you to join them for all kinds of nature adventures!
