Volunteering

Welcome to our Volunteer page. This is where you can find out about getting involved with the work we do at Doncaster Mind. Volunteers engage in a variety of roles throughout the organisation, from counselling, befriending, fundraising, administration and peer support.

Volunteers are a valued part of our team and we work hard to ensure that our volunteers have a rewarding experience. As a volunteer, you will receive a full induction, training and ongoing support. The structure of this induction depends on what department you would like to volunteer for.

Volunteering for the Befriending Scheme

We rely on volunteers to help us run our Befriending Scheme so we always welcome new additions to the volunteering team. After volunteer training has been completed, you will be linked up with a client to meet with them on a one to one basis.  Our Befrienders aim to reduce the social isolation of people who are experiencing mental ill health by supporting them to access activities and meet other people.

If you are interested in finding out more you can either see our Befriending Scheme page or contact Pauline our Befriending Scheme Coordinator on 01302 812486, however if you are interested in volunteering you can download our volunteer application form (see above) and send this to us.  You can find our address on our Contact Us page

Volunteer Counsellors

We use volunteer counsellors to run our counselling service.  All volunteer counsellors are either qualified to or working towards a Diploma in Counselling. They all work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework and Mind’s Guidelines for Good Practice.  Our counsellors are supervised by our Counselling Coordinator and receive monthly group supervision sessions.

Our counsellors always strive to be empathic, non-judgmental, non-directive and show respect for each individual’s capacity for self-determination.

Though we only have a limited number counselling placements available, if you are interested in a placement please contact our coordinator Steve Hall on 01302 812486 or email counselling@doncastermind.org.uk for more information or an application form.

Volunteers within our Wellbeing Services

We use volunteers in our Wellbeing Services to carry out a number of tasks/roles.  This could be either Reception, Administrative Tasks and Fundraising, or helping to supporting the Social Cafe or Co-Facilitating the Support Groups once completing our Peer Support Programme.

If you are interested in any of the above tasks in our Wellbeing Service or would like some more information, please see our leaflet below or contact Linda Woods for more information on 01302 812505 or download an application pack below and send it to us.  You can find our address on our Contact Us page.
