Fundraisers for Doncaster Mind

We have been fortunate to have the following people fundraise for us, without their help and support we wouldn’t be able to continue some of the work that we do.  Thank you to everyone who has donated towards these great causes.

Jo Black – In the Folds – Book Folding

Jo has been fundraising for us by selling her book folding semi-colon patterns and donating all the profits to Doncaster Mind. The semi-colon represents hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury.

Semi-Colon Book FoldingJo, mum to three children, has been book folding for just over a year, she found a FaceBook group for book folders and started trying out the patterns. Jo felt hooked on this, she then purchased some software and started making her own patterns to sell alongside the readymade folded books. Book folding has become very popular both in the UK and worldwide within the last six months.

Jo has suffered with depression since the birth of her son 16 years ago, she still has good days/weeks and bad days/week but she has found since being creative, has really helped her to zone out and focus on what she is making and when she completes the task she feels a good sense of accomplishment and this has really helped with her depression. When she heard about the semi-colon project she instantly thought about making it into a book folding pattern and donating all the proceeds to her local Mind. This money will be used to support people like Jo who have also been struggling with their own mental health.

Well done to Bob who attempted to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, although he was unable to complete the challenge physically (completing two out of the three peaks), mentally he felt prepared and is looking forward to taking part in the challenge next year.  Bob has raised a staggering £465.00, he has requested that this money go towards funding the counselling service which does not receive any formal funding.  Thank you Bob for all your hard work.
